change destination folder on multiple rules Sun Oct 15, 2017 7:49 am • by moosmahna
Hi,
I am using Hazel and its works great!!! But I have a question and need your help please. I have made 46 rules for a folder. Now I want to use these rules for another folder. But I need to change the destination folder. Is it possible to change the destination folder for all rules in one step?

Thanks a lot
Kind regards

You'll have to do it manually for each one. In the future, if all of the folders are under a common folder, I suggest instead having a rule move to that common folder, then have rules to sort into each subfolder. That way, if the common folder changes, you only have to change it in one place.

Apologies for resurrecting this thread but I'm not understanding this...

I have a load of scanned invoices and when paid, I move the lot manually to another folder (Bills Paid). I then have a bunch of rules at that folder for filing them appropriately. As others have noted, this goes swimmingly well until you move any of the folders. In my case, I moved Bills Paid and all its sub-folders onto an external drive and broke all the rules. It would be a great feature to re-link to a parent folder. Or maybe the lightbulb will go off if you're kind enough to explain to me another way round this?!

Thanks very much for your help and for Hazel,
LPS

I am considering adding some way to reassign folders in a future release but can't say when it will happen.
