I noticed the mention of "Smart" Date Matching in the Version 4.1 (May 15, 2017) release notes.

How exactly does this work? It would be ideal to have a video tutorial on this groundbreaking feature as I could not find any instructions anywhere on the support section.

In the past, I used MacSparky's tutorial which works although it's somewhat tedious…

Thanks!

Search the help. There's not much to learn about how to use it as it's just a checkbox. You'll need to try it out to test how it works in your situation.

It uses Apple's data detectors underneath (which is what is also used to detect things like package numbers, addresses, etc. in Mail). The exact algorithm is not really known so again, the only way to really test it is to try it out.

[EDIT] Just double-checked and it seems that the current manual is missing the extra bit about the automatic date detection. Seems to have gotten lost somewhere. Will look into putting that back in.
