Hi, i do some school photography and need to have files with specific name and in specific folders.

I use name mangler to rename files, but am looking of a way to automatic putting files into subfolders.

so files look like this

Child001_001.jpg
Child001_002.jpg
Child002_001.jpg
Child001_002.jpg

the number of photos can change per shoot, but you get the idea.

These need to be moved to subfolders

Child001
Child002

etc

I can see you app can do this by matching first part of file name, but i would have to create a step for each pupil and folder!

Is it possible to set variable so every 2 (or other amount) files starting with first 2 go into folders

Child001
Child002

etc

thanks

Look up "match patterns" in the help. Using that you don't have to create a rule for each case.

Hi, ok finally got around to purchasing hazel and so am trying to get this rule setup.

I have created a rule that matches first 2 parts of name:

child-001_001.jpg
child-001_002.jpg

and sorts files into subfolder:

child-001

unfortunately if also puts files

child-002_001.jpg
child-002_002.jpg

into folder

child-001

How would i go about getting the files sorted into sub-folders

child-001
child-002
child-003
etc

thanks
