How to: extract a multi-part rar archive Sat Jul 18, 2009 1:04 am • by m021478
Can someone please provide a bit of clarification on how I can go about extracted a multi-part rar archive using Hazer. The change log for the latest release of Hazel indicates that the 'Unarchive' action now allows this ability, but I've not been able to get it working.

I have followed these instructions ~ http://www.robertvenema.nl/journal/archive/howto-command-line-unrar-on-mac-os-x ~ for installing the freeware unrar command-line tool from Rarlab, which I have done successfully, but still no dice. I also have UnRarX and RarMachine installed on my computer (not sure if that matters, but worth mentioning I thought...)

Can someone please give me a step by step guide on how I can go about setting up this new feature of Hazel so that it does properly extract multi-part rar archives (and trash the no longer needed compressed files)?

Thanks!

The unarchive action should work as is. Maybe if you post what your rule is as well as any log, we can see what's going wrong. You shouldn't need to download anything extra or do any extra setup.

As for trashing the original archives, that is done automatically just as it already does with zip and other files. Basically, unrar is now support such that it behaves just like any other archive file. No need to think of it or treat it differently.
