This may sound rather trivial:

I have a workflow that sorts photos into subfolders, following a Year-Month-Day pattern
Once a month I would like to backup new photos to a NAS, maintaining the original subfolder structure.

So how do I move new files from my HD to my NAS in the proper directory structure?

Sync does not seem to be an option as I see the NAS as a backup device that would mirror any deletions done on the source.

any help would be appreciated,
thank you

The Copy action has options to copy over the folder structure. Note that you want to have the rule match the files to be copied, not the folders containing them.

To achieve that, you'll need a separate rule to tell Hazel to go into subfolders since it only processes the top level files by default. See the sticky article at the top of this forum for details on how to do this.
