Opening documents and "saving as"

I have a number of old Word documents (.doc) from a specific folder that I need to convert to .docx and then have Pages open them and save them as .pages. Can Hazel automate this process?

There are no built-in actions to do that. You'll have to use AppleScript or Automator to do that part of the workflow.
