I've done a search for this but haven't found anyone who has the same problem.

I set up a simple Hazel rule to monitor my Mail Downloads folder and move any file I've downloaded in Apple Mail from the Mail Downloads folder to the Desktop. It works great but the downloaded file always shows up on the Desktop inside a folder with an alphanumeric name like this:

866C70DD-2162-44E9-8DA8-07D23F657C41

I've tried to set up a rule where I can reach into that folder to pull out the file, place in on the Desktop and then trash the folder but nothing seems to work.

How can I bypass the alphanumeric folder and just have the file itself moved from Mail Downloads to the Desktop? Or how can I reach into the folder, pull out the file and then trash the folder? I created a matching rule for the alphanumeric folder but it didn't work.

You'll need to tell Hazel to go into subfolders as described here: https://www.noodlesoft.com/kb/going-into-subfolders/

Then create another rule to move the actual file where you want.
