Help with move to dropbox Mon Jun 06, 2016 9:25 am • by rbianchi
Need someone that help me with this:
I have many rules that, and the end, move a file to a folder in Dropbox.
I use hazel on my iMac and MacBook Air, and the the folder when dropbox is installed is not the same (the username is different).
With Hazel version 3, I adjust every rule in every machine, but with versión 4 and the sync option, I need to change the rules in some way so the same rule work in both cases.
How to do this?
Thanks in advance for the help...

You can't really do that as that defeats the purpose of the sync function. An alternative would be to have multiple versions of the rule and enable the appropriate one on each machine (which rules are enabled is not synced and local to each instance).

I think this would work:
- create an alias (with the same name) on each machine that points to the correctly named Dropbox folder
- modify the rules (once only thanks to v4) to point to the alias
