My attempt at nested conditions = oops

i found out the hard way on how to not do nested conditions. in other words, I use hazel to organize my digital scrapbooking supplies. and for that it's worked wonderfully for most part. I have folders upon folders of stuff, whole gigabytes of scrapbooking stuff. Well, I was making a new rule, where anything named washi or tape would be thrown into a folder named washi tape. I wanted to tell it to only move PNG files in case the folder was labeled the same. Well, I failed miserably and it snatched up all of the PNGs (most of scrappy stuff is in png form because of transparency and file size, exception being psd and tiff templates and background paper jpgs) and started cramming 1000+ pngs into the washi tape folder. Oh dear. How do I clean up this mess? I decided to make a rule on the washi tape folder that everything added today gets thrown back into the general (scrappy queue) folder it came from. Until I can figure out nested conditions, i'll label things with label colors and not try things on such a grandiose scale as my mistake today. :lol:

Do you have backups? Restoring that folder would be the best way to do it. Otherwise, you'll have to do it manually. If you don't know where the files came from, you can go into the "Info" section and click "View Log" to see exactly what it did.

I back stuff up manually to dropbox but I haven't set up a drive for time machine yet (I haven't had this mac for very long). Basically I told in another hazel rule to send files with an add date of the day they were oops added, to throw them back to the folder they came from. Because the original rule had a subfolder depth of greater than 0 some were in subfolders in folders though. Most of that isn't a problem, aside from alphas though (alphabet designed letters, sometimes they come in sheets of multiple letters on a png file, some times they are individual letters and thrown in folders, like one uppercase folder, one lower case folder, and one with numbers and symbols). Tracking down alpha letters and numbers hasn't been easy but the rest isn't a problem.
