Replace Text for blank spotlight comments

I'm trying to add text to an MP3's Album information in the spotlight comments. The only option I see is "Replace text...". Since the Album information is currently blank, there is no text to replace. The dialog is Replace ____ with ____ . I tried leaving the the Replace box blank but that didn't work.

If I understand you correctly, you shouldn't need Replace text for this. Just include the attribute with the album information in the pattern for "Add comment". If I'm off on this, then provide more details.

Thanks for the reply. I realize my error now. I wrongly assumed that ID3 information (album, track, artist, etc.) was included with the spotlight-comments category. I see now that ID3 information is a separate category that Hazel doesn't modify. Not sure if that's a feature which can be added in the future, but at least it's clear now.

Probably not a feature that will be added. Editing specific file types requires special code for every single file format and is something best left to external scripts/programs.
