Is it possible to process files in the Trash? Mon Jul 06, 2015 3:05 pm • by meadow
Is it possible to process files in the Trash? I'd like to save old versions of iPhone apps that are put into the Trash by iTunes. I cannot figure out how to do it though.

I enabled ScanInvisibles (defaults write com.noodlesoft.Hazel ScanInvisibles -bool YES) but I don't see any invisible files including the Trash directory. I've restarted my computer and still can't seem them.

Any suggestions?

It's not really supported, as it might cause weird issues with Hazel's normal trash functions. It's also complicated by the fact that the trash itself is made up of several directories. For instance, for each drive you connect, it has its own trash for each user.

That said, if you want to monitor the main trash directory under your home folder, in the open dialog, you can type "~/.Trash" (without the quotes). That will open up a field where you can enter the rest of it. That will navigate to the hidden trash directory.
