Can Hazel scan subfolders for duplicates? Thu Jun 04, 2015 12:31 pm • by Arizona94
Hello,

I am taking an online course and the lectures are shared as video podcasts. I have to download the podcasts individually and then import them into iTunes so I can sync them to my iPad when I'm on the go. The podcasts do not simply download as individual video files, which is why I'm hoping Hazel can help me! Here is what I want to do:

1. Scan Downloads folder for new audio/video files
2. If found, verify file does not already exist within iTunes Media folder
3. If file already exists, move to trash
4. If file does not already exist, import to iTunes (iTunes is now set to copy any new files into the iTunes Media folder)

My main concern is that I do not know how to get Hazel to scan within subfolders of a different folder than where the rule is. Does that make sense?

Thanks!

Haven't doesn't really check for duplicates in that way (i.e. in two different locations). You might be better off using iTunes' duplicates feature or some other program more geared towards specifically finding dupes with very different names spread out amongst different folders.
