Moving folders if folder contains music Tue Apr 07, 2015 4:15 am • by Resoundsound
Hi,

I have been using Hazel for a few years to do some simple stuff but trying to step up now game now a bit! However it's not going as planned and I'm afraid I need some help (thanks in advance).

I am a DJ and I receive a lot of promotional music files via email and different promo download sites. They all go to my inbox. Some of these are MP3/WAV files, some are ZIP archives.

I am trying to create a set of rules that will move all music files from Inbox to a specific Promos folder.

Here's what I have so far:

1. Move all MP3/WAV files from Inbox root to Promos folder (works)
2. Unzip all Zip files in Inbox upon download (works)

Here's what I'm struggling with:

Unzipping archives creates folders inside Inbox. I need a rule that looks into those folders and moves them into Promos folder, but only if they contain music files.

It is not enough to just move the music files from inside the folders. I need to move the entire folders as they often contain other relevant information.

I've tried a few things but it's not working out. Here's my latest try:

I have also paired this with the "Run rules on folder contents" rule first but that's not working either.

Any help on this would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

You're close. In the nested condition, change the target to "any of its sub-files". Then in the conditions under it, you don't want to use "Contents". Instead use "Extension".

It works. It's beautiful, thank you very much!
