Hazel not reading mp3 tags

I need to organise my music files in this folder organisation: Artist > Album (Year)

I have created a hazel rule like this:

1.Run rule on folder contents
2. Moving Music to an Album and Artist Folder
i. Kind is Music & authors/album is not blank
ii. Move to folder
iii. Sort in to subfolder with pattern: Authors > Album (Year Recorded)

I have used the mdls command, & my tags are visible in spotlight.

My problem is that Hazel simple moves these files into a folder titled: (0)

Help me please!

Have you check the Authors and Album fields in Finder? Do "Get Info" on the file and see what the values are. You can also check these values in Hazel's preview.

I think the metadata is very much visible, & hazel sees this alright.

Your rule preview shows those files not matching any rule. I suggest you check the logs (go to "Info" then "View Log") and search for one of the files in question and post the logs for it.

Is it possible that your system is slow to index those files? It may be that when Hazel sorts them, that info is not available yet but when you look at them a bit later, that data is filled in. One thing to try to test that is to add a condition like "Date added is not in the last 5 minutes" to delay processing.

I really appreciate your help here.

I added the rule you suggested, but it made no difference, as Hazel still is sorting them into a sub folder named (0). Spotlight is also seeing the files quite correctly.

I suggest emailing me (click on "Contact Support" in the "Info" section). Export that rule and attach it to the email and I'll see if I can replicate the behavior here.

I have mailed you the rules, but I doubt if the error would be replicable. I have a lingering feeling that it is some variable in my system that is causing the error with the otherwise okay rules.

Still, try them out. Maybe, some new thought can come through! :-)
