How Does "Smart Date" distinguish day and month

Hi
I'm tempted to click that "automatically detect date format" button, but how does Hazel know which is the month and which is the day on a document? 05/02/17 is 5th of February 2017 in Australia, but not necessarily so elsewhere. How does Hazel know?

Hazel is actually using Apple's data detectors for this. This is the same thing that detects addresses, phone numbers and package tracking numbers in Mail messages. It should be aware of your language/region settings.

Are you finding it detecting dates incorrectly? If so, can you post some examples?

Also, make sure to preview anything before running them.

Thanks for that. I tried it on a combination and got a funny result, so I corrected the result and moved on, removing the automatically detect. Wasn't forensic about it - i.e. Was it the scan, the position of the date in the document etc. When I can I'll try it again.
