No file system events notifications anymore?

Hi,

The reason I came to the Hazel forum with my problem was Dropbox stopped working for me. After startup Dropbox once synchronizes all my files to my Dropbox, but after that Dropbox doesn't do anything anymore. It syncs perfectly when something is being changed on another machine inside the Dropbox folder, but locally nothing happens.
The Dropbox guys couldn't help me (and some others), they're just saying "it's somehow related to fseventsd probably. We are aware of that problem, but can't solve it at the moment."

I'm almost sure that Hazel uses file system events to get a notification whenever something happens in the filesystem.
So can anyone tell me if they were experiencing similar issues with Hazel stopping to work?
It seems like Hazel doesn't any notifications anymore as well.

Thanks,
Andreas

EDIT:
Here's the original thread with the problem described exhaustively

Hazel isn't using fseventsd (yet) but maybe there's a deeper problem that affects it as well. Can you describe in more detail how Hazel isn't working? Also, can you check the logs?

Oh...didn't know. Hazel is working, but it takes some time for the changes to take effect.
In my eyes longer than some time ago...

The log file continuously spits out the following message:

Code: Select all
03.12.09 17:11:21   kernel   hazelfolderwatch (map: 0xae6799c) triggered DYLD shared region unnest for map: 0xae6799c, region 0x7fff83e00000->0x7fff84000000. While not abnormal for debuggers, this increases system memory footprint until the target exits.

Are you running any sort of haxies, input managers, plugins or kernel extensions? If so, I'd advise disabling or uninstalling them.

It seems this issue runs deeper than Hazel. I found this thread here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jsp ... 0&tstart=0

Weird...I'm not having installed anything. Glims and 1Password were Input Managers but now are running as Agents. Disabled both, let's see what a reboot can do.

No didn't help. Disabled Glims and 1Password Agent. Seems not to be related. *damn*

EDIT:
Error is gone. I was looking for another error I had.
Whenever I tried to empty my trash, I got an error code 8003
http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6126_102-0. ... dID=365518

Booted into safe mode, emptied trash, rebooted into normal mode.
Hazel doesn't show up in Console and Dropbox is working again.

The downside is, that I can't say anymore what was causing the error. :(

Unless it happens again, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Not sure how the item in the trash would have affected things but hopefully it won't happen again such that we'd have to find out.
