Spotlight metadata in rules Fri Jan 05, 2007 8:11 pm • by mmetcalfe
Hi

I'd like to be able to use Spotlight metadata to select files, or, alternatively, use the output of a command line.

Cheers

Is there any particular metadata you are interested in or do you want to be able to add arbitrary metadata?

Using a commandline script for conditions is in the feature db but not prioritized for any release. Could you give me some specific uses?

Thanks.

Arbitrary metadata. I hadn't thought about adding it, but that would be cool too, so that subsequent rules could process it.

An example would be to select images with certain properties (for example camera make or colour profile) and do something with them.

Using the output of a command line was in the first instance a work around to the above not being available. Also, I was imagining "finds" to emulate smart folders.

Arbitrary Spotlight fields should be in the next version. It should work roughly like how it does with Smart Folders. Do you still need scripts in conditions?

Shooting for a prerelease within the next couple weeks.
