Feature Requests

Talk, speculate, discuss, pontificate. As long as it pertains to Hazel.

Hi

I really like Hazel and have some feature requests.

1. or-and-condition
The rules in Hazel can only either "or"-condition or "and"-condition, but not an or-and-condition.
For example Name -> ( "sample" or "egg" ) and Kind -> ( Folder )

2. Growl-Improvements
An editable Growlheader instead of "Hazel Alert"

3. Localizations
Would be also a nice feature

Thanks for reading :-)

Thanks for the suggestions.

1. Already on the feature list. It's been slated for 3.0 (which is also when Hazel will go Leopard only though Snow Leopard as a minimum requirement is under consideration). That said, 3.0 keeps getting pushed out for various reasons though I think that the current 2.3.x series is going to be the last of the 2.x which means work on 3.0 can proceed.

2. Will take it under consideration. If you have specific examples of why/how you would need this, that would help.

3. It's unclear if/when this will happen. There are several problems including a much slowed down development process and a lot of maintenance. Again, it would help if specific examples are given (what language?).

Great to hear about 3.0 :-)

2. Easier to read. For example if I move a file, the header would be: Sorted in films folder
And in the text the filename.
So you know which rule is used, and which file is moved.

3. It's not that important, but I think it would be nice. And german of course ;-)

Not sure it's what or all you want, but are you aware of the pattern attributes for the Send Growl notification action?

I want to replace "Hazel Alert" with something useful

I don't see why it would be necessary to change the Hazel Alert header if it's possible (and maybe it currently isn't) to put all the "useful" info into the notification pattern.

My personal opinion is, that the "Hazel Alert"-Headline is a waste of space.
For me, it would be easier to read, if the rule name would be the headline, instead of reading the whole text
