Hazel w/external drive and Subfolder questions.

Talk, speculate, discuss, pontificate. As long as it pertains to Hazel.

Hey! thanks a bunch in advance for any help you can offer.. I have been studying the forum and learning a lot about Hazel of the last few days trying to get 20 years of data off all my old drive and consolidate into just one copy, sorted and tagged...

I just can't quite get an answer for how to have hazel watch for an external drive plug in and move files based on their types to sorting folders.. ( I'm also renaming them and tagging and all that good stuff)

I have the basic movement and renaming down, but I can't figure out how to have Hazel watch for specific external drive ( or any external drive for that matter)

and then how to get hazel to go past the first folder. Im sure it right in front of my eyes....

Thanks again advance..

To do that, you need to watch the /Volumes folder. It's normally hidden by Finder but if you do "Go to folder..." you can enter it there and it will show up. You can then drag that into Hazel to monitor. Or you can just add the drive to Hazel. Hazel will monitor it as needed and if it goes off-line, then nothing happens until it is connected again.

I'm having a similar issue, trying to get Hazel to process files on an external drive. I get the following in the Log:

Nothing gets processed. Permissions appear to be OK.
