"To Do" Notification System brainstorm

I am trying to develop a • "To Do" Notification System based on the power of Hazel rules and I wondered if anyone would be so kind as to brainstorm ideas on how to achieve this? So far I have set up a folder containing OmniOutliner documents and if they have not been opened in the last week then a desktop notification is put up. So any ideas? What would you do?
