local and shared folders inconsistencies (Windows and Mac)

Are there inconsistencies in the execution of rules in folders shared between Windows and Mac?
Why does this happen?
I have exactly the same rules for local folders and folders shared with Windows PCs. Locally they work very well, but in the shared folder they are inconsistent. For example:
I have a rule that extracts content and puts it in the 'comments' attribute. Locally it always works, but in shared folders it works for some files and not for others. Is this a known error?

Are these shared folders hosted on a Mac or PC? What filesystem are they formatted as? What protocol are you using to share them?

My guess is that Windows does not support some features that the Mac does, like comments.
