Request for icon change Mon May 28, 2007 7:18 am • by chezbiscuit
Hi,

I've set up a couple 'drop boxes' on my desktop to aid in organisation (similar to the recent kinkless screencast). It occurs to me that it would be great if hazel could change the icon of an item when a rule matches. I would like the main 'inbox' to have one icon for when it is empty, and other for when there are items inside it.

I know you can do something similar with labels, but am not a great fan of them. I did a quick search for an applescript that might do this, but didn't find anything.

Thanks,

e.

Haven't tried this with Applescript before but there is a command-line program called "seticon" that is a part of the osxutils package. You can grab it here. You can work that into a shell script which Hazel can trigger.

If you go that route, let me know how it works out for you.

You might be able to do something with folder actions (check the Standard Additions dictionary for "removing folder items from").
