Hello! I'm about to buy a license and it may be a dumb question but I'd like to know how much resources (battery, CPU, RAM) Hazel is using.

I try to keep my Mac running mostly native apps because there is one thing I really don't like: Resource hogs that let your battery run hot and stress the system without any reason.

I could imagine that constantly listening to a folder or subfolder if a new file appears uses a lot of energy?

I'm really thankful for any answer!

Run the trial so you can see for yourself. While Hazel tries not to run unnecessarily it will vary depending on your setup and rules.

I haven't done any studies, but I never felt the need to investigate either. Battery life was OK on MacBook with Intel is even better on M1 (Air) or M1 Pro (MBP). The latter is my current laptop and although I have at least 80-100 rules, I have an average runtime of 10-15h. I can't notice any negative effects of Hazel.
I can only recommend trying it out.
