I have 2 Macs that are backed up every night. Once in a while this does not work. So I make an empty folder with currant date as name and put somewhere. Then is it is easy for me to see of that folder appears on destination drive next day. This confirms that all the backup was done properly. (Yes I can see logs and do same, but this is what I like)
Is there a way for me to tell hazel to make a new folder. say in documents, daily and name with todays date?

You'd need a script. The Sort into subfolder action can create new folders, but it only does that in response to putting something into it.
