Simple request... some file types really don't need to be recovered, and perhaps 1 day in the trash is long enough. Other files should sit there. Would be great to be able to specify size/time before emptying by file types, for example:

.mp3, .mp4, iTunes backup, .epub --> 1 day
.docx, .xlsx, .pptx --> 1 month
everything else --> 1 week

Even better if there were a size limit that could be added just for these files (e.g., delete any .mp4 > 100 mb immediately, but don't do that for other types of doc).

I'll consider it though it seems like something that would complicate the UI a great deal, especially given that there's little demand for it.

Could there just be the ability to craft custom rules for the Trash? That would only require adding “delete immediately” to the list of actions, which could be useful for other rules, and adding the ability to select the Trash folder when creating a rule.

A possibility though there are issues with doing so. Also, again, requests for this type of thing have been quite rare.
