How to Save a file to more than one location Tue May 06, 2025 12:29 pm • by Macmikeal
I thought someone may have written a script to do what I need to do. When I save a file like 20250504ams-Title-type.Key to have the file save to my default location as well as two other Drives and folders I designate or have a default location if I don't change the location. Anyone have a script similiar to that?

Can you use the Copy action to do that or am I misunderstanding what you are trying to do?

Yes I think that is the way I am going to approach the task. I tried yesterday. I think I am going to have to save to a "monitor folder" for lack of a better description. Then when it sees a .key file come in copy it to the 2 folders. I would like to be able to define where the copies go on the fly, as the locations change from going in Quarter 1's folder of the year to Quarter 3's folder. I just don't want it to get to complicated. My file naming scheme begins 20250507 for year, month and day. I thought about some how it hazel seeing 2025 and know go that that years folder, then look at the 05 and know may is a part of the 2nd quarter then the key would have them go into the keynote folder. Could that be accomplished in Hazel or is that beyond Hazel's capabilities?

Look up match patterns in the help. You can create a custom attribute to grab that date then in the Sort into Subfolder pattern, use that to sort by different components of that date.

Thank you Sir/Madam ?
Right now I have written a rule with a copy to three places. One to an external drive on my Office Mac mini, One to a desktop on another computer and one to a NAS Drive location. It copies fine to the NAS Location and the other Desktop. But is not copying to my connected drive. I don't understand that one.

Check the logs. Go to Help->View Logs and search for one of the files that this is happening with.
