Adding comments

Hi all,

I'm trying out Hazel on my desktop iMac and my MacBook (MacBook2,1, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GHz, OS 10.4.10) While it seems to run smoothly on my iMac, I encounter a problem on my MacBook:
I select a folder and want all the files in it to receive a coloured label AND a comment. They actually get their coloured label - but no comment.
Since this only happens on the MacBook I'd like to know if anyone else has encountered that problem and if there's a workaround.
For me adding comments like copyright etc. is an important issue.
BTW: I have tried adding a comment with Automator too on the MacBook – and it doesn't work.

Anyone any idea?

Thanks
Michael

Addendum:
Meanwhile I found out that this problem (not to be able to write Spotlight comments via Hazel) only appears on the partition of my harddisk that is protected by File Vault. A pity I have all my apps and files there ;-). So it seems that FV is causing the problem.

I am able to write Spotlight comments in the Finder, so why can’t I let an application do that for me? Is it a bug in the OS? In file Vault? Or in Hazel?
Or is there any curios Apple-masterplan behind that behaviour?
I mean, I cannot un-protect my MacBook just to able to have comments written?
Any ideas? Hints? Workarounds? Or anything I missed?

Michael

I haven't tried FileVault on a non-boot drive. Do you have to explicitly unlock it to work with the files on it or is it always unlocked while you're logged in? Also, if it's not working with Automator as well, I think the problem lies outside Hazel. It does seem weird that you can do it manually in Finder though.

I think focusing on the FV aspect of it is the way to go but if you are talking about writing comments while the files are locked, I would think that would not be possible.
