hi noodles,

i am desperately searching for a solution to my problem.

1. "pdf files with filenames beginning with AX_"

2. "search those pdfs for a 8-digit number starting with 423 (like 42310073)"

3. "rename that specific file with that found number starting with 423 (new filename: 42310073.pdf)

i hope someone out there can help me with this! thank you so much!

Please do not post questions to the Tips forum. That forum is for posting Tips, not asking for them.

As for your issue, search the help for "match patterns". You basically want to use a custom token for parts 2 & 3.
