Hi,

I'm trying to set up a rule so that when I plug in a USB drive files from my main harddrive are copied over to the USB drive. Is there a way to do this using Hazel?

If the USB drive is the destination of the copy, then just do a rule to copy or sync files to it. If the drive is off-line then the rule will fail the first time but retry when the drive comes back.
