Sort into subfolders based on yr Wed Mar 14, 2012 10:27 pm • by IanF
Hi,
I am sure this has been answered elsewhere but I could not find it?
My files are named xyx yyyy-mm-dd. I tried the rule to sort into subfolder with pattern and used date created, Then edited it to just the year, but this didn't work as not all the files were created within the correct years, (some came back as 1970?).

How do I use the year that is within the name of the file as the condition?

Also is there somewhere that explains in more detail how to use folder pattern condition. All it says is to type and drag text but I can't see additional help on how to use these fields.

Many thanks,
Ian

Search for "match patterns" in the help for how to deal with re-using parts of names in the file. I'm guessing the date created on some of your files isn't set correctly so it would be better to use a custom token to match the year in the name.

I'm not sure what you mean by "folder pattern condition" but searching the help for "pattern" brings up a few article that might be of help.
